Urban Poor and the Politics of Identity
Some housing advocates have adopted the label "urban poor" for decades. How does this label shape the effectiveness of their label. Should alternative labels and identities be invoked to advance other elements of their sectoral agenda?
Objectives:
examine the politics of identity of the "urban poor" sector
identify opportunities and limitations posed by such an identity
articulate scenarios for the sector in 2040 and backcast in order to identify ways forward from the identity, branding, political, and philosophical perspectives
